The case study focused mainly on the southern coral reefs of the island, but could the same health status be found in other reefs? Did any latitudinal trends were identified?
The case study focused on the southern coral reefs of the island because it is a homogeneous fringing reef with many monitoring sites. On the West coast, coral reefs are different since they grow on rocky shores, while on the East coast, coral reefs are much more exposed to strong hydrodynamic conditions. But the same approach could be performed on those reefs. No latitudinal trends were identified, but the South is much more developed than the North of the Island. Land-based pressures are very different.
