Wouldn't it be relevant for public policy interventions to perform MAES for the whole Azore's region? if not, which are the obstacles that are preventing this type of regional ecosystem services assessment?
Yes, it would be relevant. Data availability is frequently an obstacle to ecosystem services assessment, especially in outermost regions and overseas countries and territories, where data availability is even more challenging than mainland countries. Another obstacle is lack of knowledge, within governmental agencies, to apply those assessments. For this reason, capacity building and relationship between governments and the scientific bodies should be improved.
