Natural Capital Seminar Series presents… Hidden sinks: Understanding Blue Carbon
83% of global carbon is circulated through the ocean. Ocean and coastal ecosystems sequester carbon from the atmosphere via sea grasses, mangroves, saltmarshes and kelp forests. These systems sequester carbon and a much faster rate than the worlds forests. Their protection, therefore, is essential in preventing climate change.
This seminar will explore the depths of blue carbon research, understanding how kelp could be key, the importance and marine and coastal shelf ecosystems and lastly discovering the future of blue carbon research.
SAERI, partner of MOVE Project, participates in this seminar.
