The NGO Asociación Biodiversidad Atlántica y Sostenibilidad (ABAS) is a non-profit organization with preferential scope of action in the Canary Islands, which actively collaborates in different marine conservation projects linked to the ECOAQUA University Institute of the Univ. Of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
ECOAQUA is dedicated to the promotion of research, innovation and postgraduate training in the conservation and sustainable use of coastal resources, in addition to the development of sustainable aquaculture, with the aim of addressing the marine environment and its problems from an ecosystem approach as well as the study and management of natural resources. The ECOAQUA team has more than 30 years of research experience and international R & D, which has allowed to know, with greater accuracy and precision, the biological processes of reproduction, feeding and growth of marine animals and plants, the structural characteristics and composition of marine benthic ecosystems as well as their associated ecosystem services.
Inside the MOVE project, ABAS is responsible for the Dissemination and Outreach activities and contributes with different initiatives to spread awareness of ecosystem services provided by species, habitats and ecosystems towards the local communities in the diverse geographic areas covered. Besides, ABAS will contribute to the other Activities included in the project.
