IRD is a French public research institute dealing with the development of more than 50 intertropical countries and territories, including the Small Island States and the outmermost regions and Overseas and territories of Europe. IRD staff counts 2019 agents in 65 research units of which 35% work outside France. With its partners IRD brings together a community of 7000 people. IRD has an original approach to research, expertise, training and knowledge which put science and innovation as the first drivers of development. More than 20 research units are involved in marine and terrestrial ecosystem and ecosystem services studies
In MOVE project, IRD is in charge of the activity 2 relating to assess the level of engagements of Ors and OCTs stakeholders for mapping ecosystem services. In this context, IRD will develop a methodology in four steps dealing respectively with a) the inventory of the human capacities for mapping ecosystem services in ORs and OCTs, b) the inventory the material capacities for mapping ecosystem services in ORs and OCTs, c) the assessment of the needs of stakeholders for mapping ecosystem services, d) the selection with stakeholders of 8 cases studies for demonstrating the interest and value of mapping ecosystem services for a better environment and territory management.
